It has been a great honour for the team of LumoConcept to be involved in the reconstruction of the Hungarian State Opera. The project was guided by the ambitious goal of not only restoring Ybl's priceless building, but also by bringing back its original atmosphere, a full-spectrum reparation of the damages caused by the interventions of the past 120 years.

In line with the architectural concept dreamed up by Gábor Zoboki, the Made by Light team has by using an intelligent and versatile system achieved the most complex lighting functionality possible that operates with discreet, sometimes even invisible solutions. Lumoconcept was invited to take part in the realisation of this project as a creative partner, to produce exceptional and custom-made lightings. Our task was to find contemporary lighting design solutions that would meet both the original production quality of the golden era of the building and contemporary technical requirements.

The possibility of using state-of-the-art equipment to recreate the original lighting of the building from before the introduction of electric lighting offered an exciting opportunity for the team, which – especially in the case of the auditorium – brought about a radical change from the decades past. The combination of contemporary use of materials with classical ones, completed byformal elements had been an utterly inspiring challenge for this collaboration.

Following these aspects, we combined antiquity and technical excellence with our professional technical lighting fixtures, which match in every case the function of the particular space and the surfaces to be illuminated.

As for LumoConcept, the project brought about several changes for the company: a total of 730 luminaires were delivered in the quality of advanced European manufacture, a step up both in volume and in variety of architectural lighting solutions, enabling us to serve larger future projects with the highest technical and aesthetic standards.
